IMAGINE Leaders – Klaus Kunz

Klaus Kunz is Head of Regulatory Development & Government Affairs at PI Industries, where he is building the company’s development organization for new chemical and biological agricultural products, and Founder and Managing Director of Ephrin GmbH, through which he advises companies and startups on business strategy, sustainable transformation, and scaling in complex, highly regulated environments. Drawing on a PhD in Organic Chemistry, an MBA, and 22 years at Bayer AG in global senior leadership roles spanning R&D, regulatory and governmental affairs, sustainability, and ESG, he has a proven track record of driving sustainable business strategies and translating complex science into actionable regulatory and public narratives, working with governments and authorities across the US, EU, Latin America, Asia, and international bodies including the OECD and WEF. 

Beyond his executive roles, Klaus advises boards and C-suite executives on long-term strategic challenges, supports sustainable finance initiatives, and helps organizations translate ESG complexity into executable strategy – including numerous startups on growth, regulatory positioning, and investment readiness. He is a regular speaker at international conferences spanning technology, sustainability, agriculture, and finance, and maintains an active academic profile as a Professor in Industrial Organic Chemistry at RWTH Aachen and a Professor of Practice in Agriculture at Sanskriti University in India.
