Gunhild A. Stordalen is a medical doctor, environmentalist, and one of the world’s leading voices in the movement for sustainable food systems. With a background in medicine and a PhD in pathology, she combines scientific expertise with an unrelenting drive to tackle the complex challenges at the intersection of human health, environmental sustainability, and global equity.
She is the founder and executive chair of the EAT Foundation, a global, non-profit organisation dedicated to transforming the world’s food systems to deliver healthy, sustainable diets for all. Under her leadership, EAT has grown into a powerful platform for science-based action, uniting researchers, business leaders, policymakers, and civil society in the pursuit of a better food future. Through flagship initiatives like the EAT-Lancet Commission, which outlines a global roadmap for feeding a growing population within planetary boundaries, Gunhild has helped redefine what it means to eat sustainably on a global scale.
Gunhild’s advocacy has been instrumental in elevating food systems to the forefront of the climate and health agendas. She serves on several high-level advisory boards, including the UN’s Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) Movement and the World Economic Forum’s Food Systems Initiative, where she contributes to shaping international strategies on food, health, and sustainability.
