IMAGINE Leaders – Jihane Ball

Jihane Ball

Dow, Lead Sustainability Director

I grew up in Lebanon and moved to the UK when I turned 18. I studied Biochemistry, Microbiology and Toxicology which firmed up my passion for life sciences. I graduated from the University of Surrey with a Doctorate in Environmental Toxicology. After graduation, I worked for Estée Lauder in the UK as a regulatory specialist. In 2006, my husband and I started our adventures in Switzerland after accepting jobs at Dow. Over the last 17 years, I have had the privilege of learning different disciplines like public policy, regulatory affairs, and product stewardship.

In recent years, I led Dow’s Global Product Safety organization which enables the license-to-sell of Dow products. In my current role as Lead EH&S and Sustainability Director, I work with peers externally and across Dow businesses to advance circularity. I also advise our CEO on enterprise issues, including external collaborations to advance plastics circularity and advocacy on enabling policies to tackle pollution. Growing up in Lebanon and living in three different continents made me acutely aware of the need for a just societal transition and the systemic transformations needed to get us there. These all make for exciting conversations with my 9-year-old son Raphael, family, and friends.

I'm interested in a future Oxford Experience
