IMAGINE Leaders – Marie Brueser

Marie Brueser

EIT Food, Corporate Venture Manager

Dr. Marie Brueser is a Corporate Venture Manager at EIT Food, the world’s largest agrifood innovation community. Co-funded by the EU, EIT Food invests in startups, projects, organisations and individuals that share its goals for a healthy and sustainable food system. In her role, Marie connects the most innovative startups with leading corporates to enable collaborations and investments.

Before that, she worked at Thought For Food (TFF), a global agrifoodtech community, where she led several flagship programs, including the sector’s most diverse innovation challenge, an in-house acceleration program supporting promising early-stage startups, as well as TFF’s mentoring and intrapreneurship offers.

Marie holds a PhD in plant genetics from the renowned John Innes Centre in the UK and has worked on various multinational sustainable development projects funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation during her time working as a consultant in agrifood. Thanks to her global work and upbringing, she knows many agrifood leaders from startups, SMEs, not-for-profits and large corporates.

She enjoys connecting people to each other to drive systemic change for a future- proof agrifood system. She connects to people easily and authentically, which is helped by her knowledge of four languages. She has a burning passion for agrifood and using tech for good, which have guided her to where she is today.
