IMAGINE Leaders – Mark Lyra

Mark Lyra is the Founder and Managing Partner of TrueWind LLC, a New York–based advisory firm at the forefront of industrial and supply chain decarbonization, bioeconomy, and climate finance. He brings over two decades of global leadership experience across the U.S., Latin America, Europe, and Asia, helping organizations design and execute strategies that accelerate the transition to a low-carbon economy.

Throughout his career, Mark has combined corporate leadership with entrepreneurial drive. He founded Cosan Biomassa, securing more than USD 30 million in equity and USD 80 million in subsidized loans to launch one of Brazil’s pioneering biomass ventures. At Sumitomo Corporation, he served as Senior Director for Energy Innovation, advancing global initiatives in biogas, sustainable aviation fuel, carbon capture, and carbon markets, while also spearheading digital platforms for carbon accounting and supply chain traceability in partnership with the World Bank and IFC.

Mark has also played a pivotal role in shaping industry standards and collaborations. He worked with WWF to co-create Bonsucro, the leading sustainability certification for sugarcane products, and has partnered with global brands such as Coca-Cola, Bayer, and Vale, as well as NGOs like Solidaridad and RMI, to embed sustainability practices across supply chains.

As an entrepreneur and advisor, Mark has co-founded several climate-focused ventures, including CarbonPrime (a supply-chain decarbonization platform), and Climate Connection (a network accelerating high-integrity carbon markets) and serves on the Advisory Board of Insurgent Venture Studio, a UK-based accelerator for climate-positive businesses.

A global citizen who has lived and worked in Hong Kong, Paris, São Paulo, and New York, Mark holds a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Miami and an MBA from HEC Paris. His career reflects a consistent focus on bridging local opportunities with global reach—mobilizing capital, technology, and partnerships to drive measurable decarbonization outcomes.
