Asher Wright

Caney Fork Farms, Farm Director

I am first and foremost a husband and father to my three children. Professionally I have been working in the regenerative agriculture world since 2005 with a heavy focus on diversified crop and livestock systems, at that time we called it sustainable agriculture. I love all things farming and food systems related but holistic thinking, agroecology, meat science, and farm business get me really excited.

My career experience began at Warren Wilson College in the sustainable agriculture program which led me to work on farms around the US and Central and South America. During this time my dear friend and I co-founded A Growing Culture, a global non-profit working to ensure food sovereignty for all people. After my travels, I received an MS. in Animal Science from Clemson University. While a graduate student at Clemson, I researched forage-finished beef, studying both animal performance and the meat quality-human health interface.

I have a diverse career background working in both for-profit farm businesses, agriculture education, and I am also an Accredited Professional with the Savory Institute, a global organization focused on regenerating grassland ecosystems. My current role at Caney Fork Farms is exciting because I get to be a part of a team working to make a strong business case for regenerative agriculture while studying the outcomes of each system and sharing it with others.

I'm interested in a future Oxford Experience
