Andrew Shakman has spent two decades working to keep good food from being thrown away. He founded Leanpath in 2004, when few professional kitchens measured waste at all, and leads it today as CEO. Leanpath's AI-driven measurement technology and behavior-change coaching now operate in kitchens across more than 50 countries — with clients including Disney, Compass, Aramark, Sodexo, and Google — and have prevented more than 200 million pounds of food waste. The company is a Certified B Corporation headquartered in Portland, Oregon, with offices in the UK and Australia. He believes preventing waste at the source is the only route to real reform, and that this most overlooked corner of the food waste space is where the work truly happens — led by front-line foodservice teams, the hardest workers anywhere. Alongside building the company, Andrew has worked to build the field itself, contributing to its standards and evidence base. He serves on the ReFED Advisory Council, the Association for Healthcare Foodservice industry board, and the Culinary Institute of America's Menus of Change Business Advisory Council and is a former director of the International Food Waste Coalition and former Board Chair of The Thacher School.
