In 2009, I founded The Ex’tax Project Foundation to accelerate the transition towards tax systems that reward work instead of pollution and resource use, putting the Polluter Pays Principle into practice. Since then, our team conducted more than 15 major studies and contributed to over 1,000 presentations, consultations and media features, helping establish Ex’tax as a leading voice on the role of tax in building competitive, circular economies. In 2025 I was elected an Ashoka Fellow, the world’s largest network of social entrepreneurs. I also serve on the board of Plus Us, a movement of tax leaders advancing thinking on tax and sustainability, and on the International Advisory Board of Brunel Business School. Before founding Ex’tax, I was an Investment Manager for a pioneering impact investment fund, where I advised companies on strategic, legal and financial matters. I studied Political Science, specialising in International Relations and Environmental Science at the University of Amsterdam.
