Profit for Good, Co-founder

Julia van Boven

Julia van Boven is a philosopher who entered the business world. This year, she is launching Profit for Good, the official spin-off of The School for Moral Ambition. Together with her co-founder Peter Singer, she works toward a world where all living beings benefit from the productivity of the capitalist system. They are growing an alliance of mission-driven companies that donate a significant portion of their profits. It took a few steps to get here. Trained as an applied ethicist, Julia joined ABN AMRO bank with the goal of making the organization and its corporate clients more sustainable. After seven years of starting and growing projects there, she felt it was time to do this without a corporation behind her.

She left in 2023 and co-founded The School for Moral Ambition together with writer Rutger Bregman.

Julia lives in a beautiful 400-year-old house in the Netherlands, which she shares with six other idealists. In March this year, she became a mother to Freya. Imagine will be her first longer trip away from home! She loves hiking (Camino de Santiago!), kitesurfing, and ecstatic dancing.
