One Acre Fund, Country Director

John Mundy

John Mundy is Director of Global Partnerships, Climate Finance and Technology at One Acre Fund, where he leads cross-sector partnerships and strategies that strengthen resilient agricultural systems serving more than 5.6 million smallholder farmers across Africa. His work spans philanthropy, government, and the private sector, with a focus on building high-performing institutions and teams that deliver durable, systems-level impact—particularly at the intersection of carbon finance, AI, and agricultural insurance. John’s career bridges organizing, social enterprise, and international development. He began as a field organizer on Barack Obama’s first presidential campaign and later worked with MacArthur “Genius” Fellow Majora Carter to help build a green economy and environmental justice organization in the United States. He has since lived and worked in more than ten countries across South America, Africa, Asia and North America, including founding a cookstove and water filter social enterprise in rural Peru and contributing to early-stage climate and agricultural finance initiatives globally. Raised on a sheep farm in Wales, John brings a lifelong connection to rural communities to his leadership. He is an Acumen Global Fellow (2015), a Board Advisor to Producers Direct, and a Senior Advisor to the Climate Action Platform for Africa and the Mapping Pathways to Security initiatives.
