I was born during apartheid era South Africa in a township to teenage parents. This could be seen as a disadvantage but this along with the values my parents instilled in me shaped the person I am today. I recognize that I am in a privileged position, and I have made a conscious decision to use that to make the various ecosystems around me work better. I really want to empower and enable entrepreneurs across Africa. Be that through relevant and affordable digitization, streamlining the value chain so that young ‘hustlers’ have access to our product, making sure that our vendors have basic entrepreneurial training or that actual cocoa farmers benefit from the value created through the ecosystem. These are are now all in play and being scaled across the continent. I truly believe that as we empower people, they will be financially liberated and that’s when Africa will move from Potential to Prosperity.
